If you’re planning to take admission in Secondary (Class 10) or Senior Secondary (Class 12) in 2025 through NIOS, this step-by-step guide will help you register online without confusion.

Step-by-Step Guide to NIOS Online Admission 2025
Step 1: Visit the Official Portal
Go to www.nios.ac.in or directly to the Student Portal sdmis.nios.ac.in. Read the instructions carefully before starting your application.
2 Step: Keep These Documents Ready (Scanned & Clear)

Passport-size colour photograph

Signature (preferably in black ink)

Valid identity proof (Aadhaar, Passport, Ration Card, etc.)

Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate, Aadhaar, TC, etc.)

Residential proof (Aadhaar, Rent Agreement, Utility bill, etc.)

Class 8th or 10th marksheet (as per your course)

Category certificate (for SC/ST/OBC)

Disability/Ex-serviceman certificate (if applicable)

Failed marksheet (for Stream 2/3/4 admissions)
Step 3: Start Registration

Click on “Register” button.

Accept the declaration and proceed.

Choose your State/UT.

Select identity type and upload the scanned ID document.

Choose your course: Secondary or Senior Secondary.
📌 If Aadhaar is used, authentication will be done through UIDAI. Ensure name, gender, and number match exactly.
4 Step: Fill Basic Details
Enter the following:

Full name, date of birth, father’s/mother’s name

Valid mobile number and email address

Generate OTP to verify both email and phone
📌 Note: One mobile/email can be used for max three learners.
Step 5: Set Username & Password
Once OTP is verified, your login credentials will be created and sent to your email. Save them carefully for future use.
6 Step: Complete the Application

Social category and medium of study

Family details (income, parents’ qualifications)

Previous education (Board name, roll number, marks)
Step 7: Subject Selection

Choose subjects for current study.

Select subjects for Transfer of Credit (ToC) if applicable.
8 Step: Study Centre Preference

Select up to 3 preferred study centres based on state and district.

Centre will be auto-allocated based on availability.
Step 9: Upload Required Documents
Upload scanned copies of all the required documents. Make sure they are clear and authentic.
10 Step: Fee Payment

Payment must be made online only (Net Banking, UPI, Cards, or CSC wallet).

No cash, DD, cheque, or offline payment accepted.

After successful payment, a reference number will be generated.
Step 11: Confirmation

You’ll receive confirmation on your mobile and email.

Login to your dashboard using the credentials.

Track ID card, study material, and exam registration from your dashboard.
Important Notes:

No need to send physical copies unless NIOS asks for it later via email/SMS.

One-time payment must be made within 5–10 days of form submission.

Furnishing wrong/incomplete info may lead to cancellation.
