What is the NIOS Six-Month Bridge Course in Primary Teacher Education?
This Bridge Course is specifically designed for primary teachers who were appointed using B.Ed as a valid qualification, during the period:
28 June 2018 – 11 August 2023
The course aims to bridge the pedagogical gap between B.Ed training and effective primary-level teaching. It ensures that teachers meet NCTE-prescribed standards for teaching Classes 1 to 5.

NCTE will design the entire course
The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) will prepare the syllabus, while NIOS will conduct teaching, assignments, workshops, and certification.
Mandatory for all B.Ed teachers appointed between 2018–2023
All teachers whose appointments were made using B.Ed during this period must undergo the Bridge Course.
Must complete the course within the given timeframe
Failure to complete the course within 1 year of commencement will result in:
⚠ Invalidation of appointment
⚠ Loss of job
as per Supreme Court directions.
Not valid for new appointments
This course is only for retaining your current employment, not for future job recruitment.

1. Recent Passport Size Photograph
Clear, colored, and updated photo for identification.
2. Signature of the Applicant
Needed for authentication of the application.
3. B.Ed Marksheet / Degree Certificate
Proof of B.Ed qualification, mandatory for eligibility.
4. Appointment Letter
Shows that you were appointed as a teacher between 28.06.2018 – 11.08.2023.
5. Self Declaration Certificate (NIOS Format)
Must be signed by the teacher and countersigned by the School Principal.

6. Aadhaar Card / Identity Proof

7. School UDISE Code
Needed for identification of the institution.
