NIOS TMA Essentials: Submission Schedule & Its Impact on Your Results

Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) are a vital tool in NIOS’s Open and Distance Learning system. They account for 20% of the theory marks in each subject, while the public examination covers the remaining 80%.

Submission Timeline:

  • March–April public exam: TMA due by 31 January, feedback by 15 February

  • September–October exam: TMA due by 31 July, feedback by 15 August.

Late submissions attract a ₹1500 per subject online late fee, allowed within one month after result declaration of April–May or October–November sessions.

TMAs must be completed in Stream-I only; other streams are exempt.

Submitting TMAs on time is essential: without them, you may be ineligible for the public examination, and your result may be withheld or marked incomplete.

FAQs:

Q1: What happens if I miss the TMA deadline?
A: You can still submit it online with a ₹1500 late fee per subject, within one month from result declaration for April–May or October–November.

Q2: Is there a way to re-submit a TMA if I upload the wrong one?
A: Yes—you can re-upload the correct TMA within 7 days of the incorrect upload.

Q3: Can I submit TMA after passing the subject?
A: No. Once the subject is passed, TMA submission is not accepted.
