Note:

(i) There are 35 questions in all divided into two parts.

(ii) All questions are compulsory.

(iii) Marks for each question are indicated against it.

(iv) Q. No. 1 to 16 and 24 to 28 are Objective type questions 1 mark each. Some of them are in sub-parts that include MCQ, fill in the blanks, True/Match the column and One-word answer type questions.

(v) Q. No. 17 to 20, 22 and 29 to 34 are short answer questions carrying 2 marks each. Answers to these questions should not exceed 30 words each.

(vi) Q. No. 35 is carrying 3 marks. Answer to this question should not exceed 40 words.

(vii) Q. No. 21 is carrying 4 marks. Answer to this question should not exceed 100 words.

(viii) Q. No. 23 is a long answer question carrying 6 marks. Answer to this question should not exceed 150 -200 words.

(1) Answers of all questions are to be given in the Answer-Book given to you. (2) 15 minutes time has been allotted to read this question paper. The question paper will be distributed at 2:15 p.m. From 2:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the students will read the question paper only and will not write any answer on the Answer-Book during this period.

READING

Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:

Once upon a time, there was a piece of paper. It could do all sorts things like bend, flex, fold and even turn into a paper plane. The children loved playing with it! They would draw on it, cut it out, make shapes, a boat with it. But one day, the paper found itself old and wrinkled. used up for the kids to keep playing with. Before it knew what was going it found itself stuck at the bottom of the trash can. It was sent out dumpster where some men came and picked it up.

The little piece of paper was thrown into the truck with all the other papers who were old, wrinkled and quite grumpy. The journey was bumpy windy too long for such a tired piece of paper. It went from light to wind to rain. It was grabbed at and squished, and finally thrown onto with the rest of the papers. It quickly got sorted and pushed, and moved around. The poor little piece of paper could do very little in its weak Then it was crushed back into a thin piece of paper.

“Hu Hmm”, it thought, “that’s not so bad”. Then it saw the slicer! And

the crusher! The paper tried to run. It was too late. The crusher and sucked it in with the rest of the papers. The paper closed its eyes. blinked. And realized that it was perfectly quiet. Even a bit sunny. around, the paper realised it was sitting next to a batch of fresh paper. looked down at itself. Completely clean, smooth with a fresh coat of bleach!

Then bending over to examine the rest of itself, to see what was going on, it noticed a fine watermark on its back “What is this?” it wondered “A recycled logo!”.
