Understanding Transfer of Credit (ToC) in NIOS Admission

Understanding Transfer of Credit (ToC) in NIOS Admission Class 10 & 12 Online

If you’ve already passed certain subjects in another recognized board and want to save time and effort during your NIOS admission, you can apply for Transfer of Credit (ToC).

This powerful feature allows you to carry forward marks from previously passed subjects so that you don’t have to reappear for those exams under NIOS.

What is Transfer of Credit (ToC) in NIOS?

ToC means transferring marks from previously passed subjects in your earlier board (CBSE, State Board, etc.) to your NIOS certificate, so you can avoid reappearing for those subjects again.

Who Can Apply for ToC?

  • Students applying under Stream 2 (failed in board exam)

  • Students from CBSE, ICSE, and recognized State Boards

  • Only applicable if the subjects and board are recognized by NIOS

  • Marksheets must be from the last 5 years

How Many Subjects Can Be Transferred?

  • Maximum 2 subjects allowed for Transfer of Credit

  • Remaining subjects must be taken through NIOS

Conditions for ToC:

  • Minimum 33% marks in each subject (pass status)

  • Subject names must match with NIOS subject codes

  • Upload original scanned copy of the marksheet during registration

  • The board name, year, and roll number must be entered accurately

Documents Required for ToC:

  • Previous board’s original marksheet (Class 10 or 12)

  • Subject-wise pass status clearly shown

  • Subject code matching with NIOS list

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Uploading photocopy or blurry image of marksheet

  • Entering wrong subject name/code

  • Trying to transfer more than 2 subjects
