What is NIOS Practical Exam?

NIOS Practical Examination वह examination/assessment है जिसमें विद्यार्थी अपने subject से संबंधित practical skills, experiments, activities, performance, project work या prescribed practical work का demonstration करता है।

उदाहरण के लिए:

• Science में experiments और practical activities
• Biology में specimen/diagram/practical work
• Physics में experiments और observations
• Chemistry में laboratory experiments
• Computer subjects में computer-based practical work
• Painting में practical artwork
• Physical Education में practical activities/performance
• Music/Natya Kala में performance
• Vocational subjects में skill-based practical work

इसलिए practical examination को केवल “file जमा करने का exam” नहीं समझना चाहिए।

Practical File/Record, practical performance, activities, viva/oral questions या अन्य assessment components subject के अनुसार अलग-अलग हो सकते हैं।

NIOS की current assessment instructions में practical subjects के लिए formative assessment marks भी separately recorded किए जाते हैं। इसलिए सभी subjects के लिए एक ही fixed “10+10+10” marking formula बताना सही नहीं है।

NIOS में Practical Exam कैसे Conduct होता है?

NIOS practical examination सामान्यतः आपके allotted Accredited Institution (AI)/Study Centre/Examination Centre पर conduct किया जाता है, जैसा NIOS द्वारा निर्धारित किया जाता है।

Practical examination में subject के अनुसार निम्न activities हो सकती हैं:

1. Practical Performance

विद्यार्थी को prescribed experiment, activity, skill या practical task perform करना पड़ सकता है।

2. Practical Record / File

जहां applicable हो, विद्यार्थी को अपनी Practical Record File, Practical Notebook, Portfolio या prescribed practical work प्रस्तुत करना पड़ सकता है।

3. Viva / Oral Questions

Examiner practical से संबंधित basic questions पूछ सकता है।

4. Observation / Result

Science-related subjects में observations, calculations, results आदि demonstrate करने पड़ सकते हैं।

5. Subject-specific Activity

Computer, Painting, Music, Physical Education और vocational subjects में practical assessment का तरीका अलग हो सकता है।

Important: Practical examination का exact pattern और assessment components subject तथा NIOS instructions के अनुसार अलग हो सकते हैं।

NIOS Public Examination – Practical Exam कब होता है?

NIOS Secondary और Senior Secondary के Public Examinations सामान्यतः वर्ष में दो मुख्य cycles में होते हैं:

🔵 April-May Public Examination

यह NIOS का first major public examination cycle होता है।

Practical examinations आमतौर पर theory examination से पहले या उसके आसपास निर्धारित किए जा सकते हैं।

उदाहरण के तौर पर NIOS ने April 2026 Public Examination के लिए March-April 2026 में practical examination schedule जारी किया था। Official practical timetable में अलग-अलग subjects के लिए अलग dates दी गई थीं।

🟠 October-November Public Examination

यह दूसरा major public examination cycle है।

Practical examinations सामान्यतः theory examination से पहले/आसपास अलग schedule में conduct किए जाते हैं।

NIOS की official information के अनुसार Public Examinations सामान्यतः April-May और October–November में आयोजित किए जाते हैं।

NIOS Practical Date Sheet कब जारी होती है?

Practical Date Sheet theory date sheet से अलग जारी हो सकती है।

विद्यार्थियों को practical के लिए केवल theory date sheet पर निर्भर नहीं रहना चाहिए।

NIOS Regional Centre learner notifications में September 2026 Secondary & Senior Secondary Practical Examination Date Sheet listed है। इससे यह स्पष्ट है कि practical schedules अलग से notification के माध्यम से जारी किए जाते हैं।

इसलिए विद्यार्थियों को NIOS website और अपने Regional Centre की latest notifications regularly check करनी चाहिए।

NIOS Streams और Practical Examination

NIOS students अलग-अलग admission streams में हो सकते हैं। इसलिए सभी students के practical exam की timing एक जैसी नहीं होती।

🟢 Stream 1 – Block 1

Stream-1 Block-1 में enrolled learners सामान्यतः April-May Public Examination cycle के लिए eligible होते हैं, subject to NIOS examination rules and fee registration.

अगर आपके subject में practical है, तो practical examination की date theory examination से अलग जारी हो सकती है।

Stream 1 Block 1 – सामान्य pattern

Admission → Practical Preparation → Practical Exam → Theory Exam → Result

🔵 Stream 1 – Block 2

Stream-1 Block-2 learners सामान्यतः October-November Public Examination cycle से जुड़े होते हैं, subject to eligibility and examination registration.

इसलिए Block-2 learners को October-November examination के लिए practical date sheet और hall ticket अलग से check करना चाहिए।

🟠 Stream 2

Stream-2 learners के लिए examination cycle अलग हो सकता है क्योंकि admission period और examination eligibility NIOS rules के अनुसार निर्धारित होती है।

Stream-2 learners को यह मानकर नहीं चलना चाहिए कि admission लेने के तुरंत बाद अगली practical examination में automatically appearance मिल जाएगी।

Exam fee, eligibility, admission/session और NIOS notification के अनुसार examination opportunity निर्धारित होती है।

NIOS की current notifications में Stream-2 admission और public examination related updates अलग से जारी किए जा रहे हैं।

🟣 Stream 3 & Stream 4 – On-Demand Examination

यहां एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण difference है।

Stream-3 और Stream-4 learners On-Demand Examination (ODE) mode के माध्यम से examination देते हैं।

NIOS की official information के अनुसार:

Stream 3

मुख्यतः ऐसे learners के लिए है जिन्होंने Secondary level पर किसी recognized board से examination दिया लेकिन clear नहीं किया और NIOS के On-Demand Examination System के माध्यम से examination देना चाहते हैं।

Stream 4

Senior Secondary level पर eligible learners के लिए On-Demand Examination का route है, जिसमें applicable cases में unsuccessful learners तथा कुछ part-admission situations शामिल होती हैं।

NIOS के अनुसार Stream-3 और Stream-4 में registered learner को On-Demand Examination mode के माध्यम से ही examination देना होता है; उन्हें सामान्य NIOS October/November या April/May Public Examination में उसी registration के आधार पर appear करने की अनुमति नहीं होती।

On-Demand Practical Exam कब होता है?

On-Demand Examination का concept ही flexibility प्रदान करना है।

लेकिन practical subject होने पर practical examination की process सामान्य public examination से अलग हो सकती है।

NIOS के ODE instructions के अनुसार practical-related arrangements/venue की जानकारी centre/Regional Centre से जुड़ी हो सकती है। पुराने official ODE guidance में practical examination को theory examination के उसी week में conduct करने की व्यवस्था बताई गई थी, लेकिन वर्तमान में learners को अपने applicable ODE schedule और Regional Centre की latest instructions को final मानना चाहिए।

ODE student केवल theory exam की date देखकर practical की date assume न करें।

How Many Practical Subjects are There in NIOS?
